Piter Paganak Elaby – Research Coordinator

I am from the Gem tribe, and was born in Kobakma which is a tiny village in the central highlands of West Papua.

The Gem are one of the three-hundred-and-twelve tribes that constitute the Papua Customary Council, which we call the Dewan Adat Papua.  You will recall that, the President of the Federal Republic of West Papua is also the Chair of the Papua Customary Council.

In 2012, I graduated from Cenderawasih University in Jayapura with a Geography degree.

In this office, I am using my research skills to develop policy papers for our Government.  The first paper identifies the proper placement of our boundaries, including our maritime boundaries.  The second paper will measure the impact of so many Indonesians entering West Papua without documentation.
